Lempicka Prints, stretched canvases, art prints and giclee prints are great examples of the best contemporary art to have come from Eastern Europe. This website includes the best Lempicka prints around with discussion and further detail of the artist herself. Below are links through to a Lempicka prints gallery, and below that is further information on Tamara de Lempicka and her considerable career.

The best known Tamara de Lempicka paintings included Self-Portrait in the Green Bugatti, Group of Four Nudes, Young Lady with Gloves, Andromeda, The Convalescent, Blue Woman with a Guitar, Portrait of the Duchess of La Salle, La Belle Rafaela and Women Bathing. You can find more on Tamara de Lempicka on our homepage.

It is incredible to think that Lempicka was enjoying a truly socialite life at the time of the 1930s depression when most others were struggling so hard. Much of this was due to her excellent connections with high society which ensured that finance was never a problem and her art career could continue untouched. Lempicka later had a child, Kizette, who also featured in many works which had a personal touch to them that was slightly different to what had gone before. This series included Kizette in Pink, Kizette on the Balcony, Kizette Sleeping and Portrait of Baroness Kizette.

Tamara de Lempicka's boldness of character came out in her prints which regularly held highly charged scenes of seduction which was highly controversial for a female artist at that time. Her bravery was matched in her social life, pursuing a bisexual lifestyle as she lived truly for herself, as she felt she should.

Lempicka has become highly respected as a Polish female Art Deco painter even ignoring the hype around her personal life. It is pleasing that as society has become more liberal it is easier to judge and enjoy her paintings for the qualities that they have and without being distracted by other factors in the life of this artist.
